Technology Applications Readiness Grants for Empowering Texas
The TARGET Grants (Technology Applications Readiness Grants for Empowering Texas students and teachers initiative) focus on serving high need students by accelerating at the local level, Enhancing Education Through Technology of the "No Child Left Behind Act of 2001", and implementation of the recommendations in the "Long-Range Plan for Technology 1996-2010" and are correlated to the "Texas STaR Chart."

Region XIII was awarded a $900,000 TARGET grant aimed at improving middle school social studies instruction. Teacher collaborative teams are creating student-centered learning projects based on the Big6TM problem-solving model integrating social studies and technology. A variety of staff development strategies, resources and on-site mentors are being provided to participating teachers.
